Be Better Golf Movement Index

Be Better Golf Movement Index

Gears Golf Performance Calculator

By looking at your total score and how you got the score you can improve your efficiency and total motion.
The BBGMI calculator is a tool that measures both efficiency of a golfers swing and total quality of motion.

Use 3D motion analysis software to obtain the numbers.

Six numbers have been identified as the most important in a golf movement.

The FIRST FOUR numbers are stability metrics. Research has shown these four numbers to be the most critical or consistency.  The lower the numbers of the first four the better. These first four numbers are called the "waste" metrics.

If you have great stability (low waste metric numbers) and high ball speed you have a very efficient swing.

For example image 2 golfers who both create 160 MPH of ball speed. One moves a TON and gets that 160 with another moves much less and gets 160.

Golfer A
1. Sways his hips 10 cm in the backswing
2. Thrusts his hips towards the ball 10 cm in the downswing.
3. Comes out of his posture 20 degrees
4. Bends his trail elbow a lot by adding 60 degrees of flex.

This golfer would have an efficiency score of 34% which is solidly in the POOR category.

Golfer B

1. Sways his hips 2 cm in the backswing
2. Thrusts his hips towards the ball 2 cm in the downswing.
3. Comes out of his posture 4 degrees
4. Adds 45 degrees of flex in his trail elbow between address and when it is most bent

This golfer would have an efficiency score of 92.5% which is solidly in the GREAT category.

The next two metrics are strongly correlated to how elite players build their speed. With these two numbers THE HIGHER, THE BETTER.
These are
X factor stretch (how much the x factor increase after the transition)

Pelvis Rotation Peak Speed (one of the most correlated body motion metrics to handicap)

When you input numbers into all 6 fields and BALL SPEED you get the BBG MOVEMENT INDEX. This number will tell you the potential of your golf swing. Both How efficient it is and how elite the quality of your movement.
